Kurt Zouma, who sustained an injury during Sunday’s Premier League match against Manchester United at Stamford Bridge, has been assessed by Chelsea Football Club’s medical team.  He should have undergone surgery by today, and will miss the remainder of the season.  Zouma’s actual return date is, of course, yet to be determined but the young French center back is expected to be out until at least August.

While Chelsea fans were hoping the injury was simply a hyperextension of the knee, Zouma’s anguished response suggested otherwise.  It has been confirmed that he suffered a serious injury to his Anterior Cruciate Ligament, from which many a footballer has been slow to recover.  Some, like current Blues’ current loan flop Radamel Falcao, never fully regain their form.

Hopefully, Chelsea can soldier on without him, as he had exhibited a level of comfortability during several successful performances alongside John Terry.  Gary Cahill, who missed a few matches due to injury, will need to stay fit in order for Chelsea to maintain their unbeaten run.
